Release

Framecast 1.4.0

October 13, 2026

Livelier motion, a cleaner frame, a steadier camera cutout, smaller videos and safer projects. New recordings get the new looks. Older projects keep theirs, and you can turn each one on in the editor.

  • New: Lively motion. Zooms, pans and the cursor start quickly and settle without bouncing.
  • New: Every cursor shape is the same size, the cursor no longer flickers over links and window edges, it hides while you type, and it can lean as it moves.
  • New: Smooth corners, light from one side, even gradients, and a background that softly blurs while you're zoomed in.
  • New: 4:5 format for feed posts.
  • New: Steady cutout. Framecast finds your outline once for the whole video, so the edge holds still and playback is lighter.
  • New: Edge softness and edge inset for the camera cutout, color files (.cube) and film grain for your camera.
  • New: Your camera blurs softly as it fades in and out, and a split screen turns into the camera bubble while you're zoomed in.
  • Improved: On Macs with Apple silicon, H.264 exports are about 25–65% smaller at the same quality. Parts where little moves take almost no space.
  • New: Press 1–9 to set a zoom's level. Copy and paste the settings of a zoom, layout, mask or note with ⌘C and ⌘V.
  • New: Hover an empty Zoom, Layout or Mask track to see where a click adds one, and drag to choose how long it is.
  • New: The Dock icon shows a dot while you record and a progress bar while you export.
  • Improved: Shared presets bring their pictures and camera color file along, so they look the same on another Mac.
  • New: Mute when not talking. The microphone goes quiet between sentences, so typing and room noise drop out.
  • Improved: In new transcripts, captions show each word when it's said. In new recordings, caption lines stay short so long words don't make the text smaller.
  • New: Framecast watches your free disk space while you record. It warns you below 3 GB, and below 1 GB it stops and saves your recording.
  • New: A soft sound when recording starts and stops. You hear it; your recording doesn't. Turn it off in Settings › Recording.
  • New: If your pointer is enlarged in System Settings, the recording bar tells you before you record.
  • Improved: Your voice stays in sync if your microphone cuts out for a moment, and sound is never dropped when your Mac is busy.
  • Improved: Each project keeps a short recording log that helps if you contact support. It stays on your Mac and is left out of shared projects.
  • New: Projects show a picture of the video in Finder and Quick Look.
  • Improved: Every save keeps the previous version of your edits as a backup.
  • Fixed: A project whose edits file was damaged no longer opens empty. Framecast opens the last saved copy, keeps the damaged file, and tells you.
  • Fixed: Opening a project made with a newer version of Framecast no longer drops zooms or settings. A copy of the original is kept first.
  • Fixed: Opening and closing a project without changes no longer rewrites it, and changes made just before quitting are saved.
  • Fixed: When your changes can't be saved, Framecast now says so.
  • Fixed: Typing in the editor's text fields no longer triggers editing shortcuts.
  • Fixed: A crash when undoing a mask, note or zoom you had just added.
  • Fixed: Starting a recording could wrongly say Screen Recording permission was missing when macOS was only slow to answer.

Framecast 1.3.0

October 6, 2026

Editing is smoother, especially on long recordings, and clicks sound like a real mouse.

  • Improved: dragging sliders, moving zooms and playing back stay smooth, including on long recordings.
  • Improved: while paused, the preview shows each change the moment you make it.
  • New: smooth scrubbing for sharp recordings. Dragging the playhead through Retina, 4K and 5K recordings keeps up with your hand. You can turn it off in Settings.
  • New: Faster encoding, in the export options. Exports finish sooner where your Mac allows it, with files a little bigger.
  • New: click sounds are now real mouse recordings. Pick Crisp, Classic or Clicky. You hear the press when you click and the release when you let go.
  • Improved: while you record, the controls sit at the bottom center of the screen, where the recording bar was.
  • Fixed: the Number, Text, Arrow and Box buttons on the Annotations tab no longer spill out of their outlines.
  • Fixed: after a window was snapped into a corner of the screen, the editor no longer keeps opening small in that corner.

Framecast 1.2.1

October 5, 2026

Your share links are easier to see and send.

  • Fixed: a new share link no longer disappears after a few seconds. A card shows the upload as it goes, then your link with Copy, Open and Send…, and it stays until you close it.
  • Fixed: on the card after recording, a share link now stays until you close it, with Copy and Open.
  • New: Show share link brings back the last link you shared. Right-click a recording in the library, or press ⌘K in the editor.

Share links now work out of the box.

  • New: Share link just works with your license. Framecast hosts your links, with nothing to set up, and your license includes 25 GB for them.
  • New: see every link you've shared, how much space they take, and delete them, at framecast.pro/account. Settings › Sharing shows your storage too.
  • New: every share page has a Report button.
  • Fixed: big videos and projects upload more reliably. If your connection drops for a moment, the upload carries on.
Release

Framecast 1.1.0

October 4, 2026

Three new ways to make your videos look like yours.

  • New: add your logo once and it shows in a corner of every video, moving out of your camera's way. Find it in the Background tab.
  • New: blur the room behind your webcam, or put a picture behind you. It all happens on your Mac. Find it in the Camera tab.
  • New: 3D tilt. While zoomed in, your screen turns toward your pointer in perspective. Turn it on in the Zoom tab.
Release

Framecast 1.0.3

October 4, 2026
  • Fixed: changes on your account page, like removing a Mac, resetting your key or renewing updates, now reach Framecast right away instead of a few days later.
Release

Framecast 1.0.2

October 4, 2026

Privacy and security fixes. We recommend updating.

  • Blurs hide what they cover everywhere: under the loupe, with any number of blurs on screen, and while the screen stays still.
  • Guides and click-through demos only show what you typed if you turn it on, and never text under a blur or in a password field.
  • Muted parts of a recording stay out of captions, transcripts and shared projects.
  • Keys typed into password fields aren't stored with your recording.
  • Shared projects leave out window titles and app, Mac and device names.
  • Framecast checks for private info before every share, from the editor, the library or right after recording.
  • A project can only use files inside it, so a project someone sends you can't reach other files on your Mac.
  • Links on websites that import a project or activate a license now ask you first.
Release

Framecast 1.0.1

October 4, 2026

  • No more “Made with Framecast” badge on exported videos.
  • When you try to export without a license, Framecast tells you, with buttons to buy one or enter your key.
