A Loom alternative for Mac that edits itself.
Framecast is a Mac screen recorder that still gives you a link to send, but makes the video look edited first: zooms on your clicks, a smooth cursor, captions and blurred secrets. It all runs on your Mac, and you can pay $79 $39 once instead of paying per person, every month.

When Loom is the better choice
Loom is made for quick video messages inside a team, and it’s very good at that. Here’s when it may suit you better, with its details as listed on loom.com in October 2026:
- Not everyone is on a Mac. Loom records on Mac, Windows, iOS and Android, and in Chrome with an extension. Framecast records only on a Mac, though anyone can watch a Framecast link in a browser.
- You want the link the second you stop. Loom creates a link as soon as you stop recording. Framecast exports and uploads first, with a card that shows how far it has got.
- Your team wants one shared video library. Loom has a team workspace with personal, shared and team libraries, viewer insights, and integrations with Slack, Jira, Confluence, GitHub and Gmail. Framecast has no team library: each person shares their own links.
- You only send a few short clips. Loom’s Starter plan is $0 for up to 25 videos per person, 5 minutes each. Framecast is free to try, but sharing needs a license.
- You need SSO. Loom’s Enterprise plan adds SSO and SCIM.
Why people switch to Framecast
- Videos that look edited, without editing. Framecast zooms in on every click and stretch of typing, smooths your cursor, puts the recording on a background, and shrinks your camera bubble while a zoom needs the room. It’s made for product demos, tutorials and help-center videos.
- Your recordings stay on your Mac. Recording, transcription, captions, voice cleanup and blur all run on your Mac, and the app has no analytics. Only the finished video you share is uploaded, after Framecast asks. On Loom, the finished file uploads to your Loom account, and OpenAI receives transcript text to write titles and summaries, as listed on loom.com in October 2026.
- Secrets get blurred before you share. Find private info looks for API keys, email addresses, phone and card numbers, and password fields, and blurs them in one click. It checks again before every share link.
- Pay once, not per person, per month.
$79$39 once covers 3 Macs, with every future update. Editing by transcript and removing filler words are included. Loom lists those in Business + AI, as listed on loom.com in October 2026. - Private sharing is included. Every license comes with share links: comments, a searchable transcript, chapters, passwords, and invite-only links, where each person gets their own link and you see who watched.
- A file when you need one. Export an MP4 or MOV up to 4K, a GIF, a vertical 9:16 video for social media, a step-by-step guide with screenshots, or a click-through demo.
How to switch
Keep your old Looms where they are. Install Framecast and use it for your next video.
- Download Framecast and drag it to Applications. Open it and allow Screen Recording. It runs on macOS 14 Sonoma or later.
- Record like you would a Loom. Press ⌥⌘↩, pick a screen, window or area, turn on your camera and microphone, and talk. The zooms, cursor and captions are ready when you stop.
- Share the link. Click Share link, choose who can watch, and paste: the link is already copied. Sharing and exporting need a license, so buy one when you like the result.

On your Mac, in your library. When you share a link, Framecast uploads only the finished video and its details to share.framecast.pro, which we run. You can delete any link from your account page. Teams that need their own server can ask us for Framecast’s share server.
Can my whole team use it?
Yes, with a license per person. Each license works on 3 Macs, and for several licenses at once, write to us for a quote. Teammates can hand each other editable projects with Share project with team. There’s no shared team library like Loom’s.
