Microphone test

Check your microphone level and listen to a five-second test before your next call or recording.

Not started. Your browser asks for microphone access only after you press Start.

The meter shows the input level relative to the loudest sound your input can carry, with the recent peak as a line. It isn't a calibrated sound level and doesn't rate your microphone. Nothing plays until you press Play test, so there's no echo or feedback.

Runs entirely in your browser. Your audio is never uploaded.

How to use

  1. Start the test and allow microphone access.
  2. Choose an input and speak while watching the meter.
  3. Record a five-second test, play it back and stop the microphone when finished.

FAQ

Why does the meter stay still?

Check the selected input, hardware mute switch and browser permission. Speaking quietly can also produce a low reading.

Is my voice uploaded or saved online?

No. Input analysis and the five-second recording stay in this browser session. Reset or close the page to discard the test.

Does a moving meter mean my microphone sounds good?

It shows sound is arriving. Play back the test to listen for distortion, echo and background noise; the meter does not rate sound quality.
