Crop the recording
Cut away the edges of your recording so only the part that matters is in the video.
Crop
- Click the aspect ratio menu in the toolbar and choose Crop recording…. It’s also under Background › Frame, and in the command menu.
- Drag a corner of the white box to resize it, or drag inside the box to move it.
- Check the size underneath, in pixels, and click Apply.
The Crop recording window shows the frame at the playhead, so move the playhead to a moment that shows what you want to keep. Reset brings back the whole recording, and Cancel closes without changes.
What to know
- It’s for the whole video: the crop applies from start to end. Open Crop recording… again to change it, or press ⌘Z to undo it.
- Nothing is lost: the edges are only hidden. Reset brings them back at any time.
- Crop is not the shape: cropping changes what part of the recording you see. To make the video square or vertical, change the aspect ratio.
Tip: if you know in advance which part matters, record only that part. See Record an area.
