Recovered recordings
If Framecast quits while you’re recording, your recording isn’t lost. The next time Framecast opens, it saves everything up to that moment.
Recordings survive a crash
While you record, Framecast saves the video and sound to disk every couple of seconds, along with your clicks and typing. If Framecast quits unexpectedly, at most the last couple of seconds are lost.
If your disk runs low on space, Framecast stops and saves the recording before the disk is full. See While you record. Your edits are kept safe too: see Backups of your edits.
When you open Framecast again
Framecast finishes the interrupted recording by itself. It opens the library and shows “Recovered an interrupted recording”, with the recording’s name.
- Click Open to edit it now.
- Click Later to leave it in the library for another time.
A recovered recording edits like any other. Automatic zooms and the smooth cursor work, because your clicks and typing were saved too. There’s nothing to recover by hand.
The RECOVERED badge
In the library, a recovered recording has an orange RECOVERED badge on its card, so you can tell it apart from the others.
Note: quitting Framecast yourself while you record isn’t a crash. Framecast asks first, and Stop & Quit saves the recording before it closes.
