Your recordings stay on your Mac. Framecast records, transcribes, cleans up and exports on your Mac, and uploads only when you ask it to.
What stays on your Mac
Your recordings and projects are stored only on your Mac, in your library folder. All of this happens on your Mac too, with nothing sent anywhere:
- recording, editing and export, including AI upscaling for zooms
- transcription and captions
- voice enhancement
- face tracking and camera background removal
- finding private info to blur
- titles, summaries and chapters written with Apple Intelligence, and voiceovers with macOS voices
Each project’s recording log, a short note of how the recording went, stays on your Mac as well. It’s left out of projects you share.
What leaves only when you choose
- Share links go to share.framecast.pro, which Framecast hosts: only the finished video and its details, never your original recording. See Share a link.
- Shared projects go there too, as the safe copy you prepare. See Share a project with your team.
- Cloud voices: OpenAI or ElevenLabs get only your script, sent with your own API key.
- Photo backgrounds: the Photos choice on the Background tab sends your search words to Openverse, or to Unsplash if you added a key.
If your team uses its own server, set in Settings › Sharing › Your own server, links and projects go there instead, and Framecast doesn’t see them.
Framecast asks before it uploads
Before a link or project is uploaded, Framecast names where it goes, such as share.framecast.pro, and lists what it will send. Nothing is sent until you click Upload. If you ticked Don’t ask again, click Ask again next to it in Settings › Sharing › Uploads without asking.
Share links aren’t end-to-end encrypted, so Framecast could technically open what you share. It only looks at a shared video or project when it’s reported, when the law requires it, or when you ask for help. See the privacy policy for what’s kept and for how long.
No analytics
Framecast collects no analytics. It goes online by itself only to check for updates and, once you’ve activated a license, to check that it’s still valid, before you export and every so often while it’s open. Neither check includes anything from your recordings, and you can turn off Check for updates automatically in Settings › General. You’ll find these promises in Settings › Privacy, and the details in our privacy policy.
