Motion blur

Framecast adds a camera-like blur while the view zooms and pans quickly, so fast moves look smooth instead of choppy.

Excalidraw — strong motion blur during fast zooms

How it works

When a zoom comes in or the view pans quickly, Framecast blurs the picture in the direction it moves, the way a real camera does. When the view holds still, nothing is blurred, so text stays sharp to read.

Motion blur is on for new projects.

Change it

  1. Open the Cursor tab in the inspector on the right.
  2. Under Motion blur, switch Motion blur on or off.
  3. Drag Amount to make the blur stronger or weaker.

Blur cursor also blurs the pointer when it moves fast, so a quick mouse move leaves a short trail instead of jumping across the screen.

The blur follows your zooms, so how strong it looks also depends on how fast they move. To make zooms slower or faster, see Zoom defaults.

Tip: press ⌘K and type “motion blur” to switch it on or off without opening the tab.
